Gallivaggio Sanctuary
Il Santuario di Gallivaggio si trova lungo la SS36 dello Spluga tra San Giacomo Filippo e la frazione di Lirone.
Per ricordare una sacra apparizione fu prima eretta una cappella in legno, poi una chiesa e infine tra il 1598 e il 1603 l'attuale Santuario, consacrato nel 1615. Il campanile, staccato dal Santuario, fu eretto nel 1731.
Le tre cappelle sono state affrescate da Domenico Caresana di Cureglia (dal Canton Ticino) nel 1605-6. Pregevoli sono anche la tela del sondriese Cesare Ligari raffigurante il Crocifisso tra frati francescani (1739) e quella dell'Incoronazione di Maria dipinta nel 1606 da Paolo Camillo Landriani, detto il Duchino.
Pregevole pure la balconata dell'organo, realizzata nel 1673 anche con il contributo degli emigranti a Palermo.

La cache è nascosta al di fuori del Santuario, nel parcheggio. Attenzione ai babbani, anche a quelli alle finestre del ristorante.

The Gallivaggio Sanctuary is located along the route SS36 between San Giacomo Filippo and the hamlet of Lirone.
To remember a holy apparition it was first erected a wooden chapel, then a church and finally between 1598 and 1603 the current Sanctuary that was consecrated in 1615. The bell tower, detached from the Sanctuary, was built in 1731.
The three chapels were painted by Domenico Caresana Cureglia (from Tessin, Switzerland) in 1605-6. Outstanding artworks are the painting of Cesare Ligari (from Sondrio) depicting the Crucifixion between Franciscan friars (1739) and the Coronation of Mary painted in 1606 by Paolo Camillo Landriani, aka Duchino.
Valuable as well the balcony of the organ, built in 1673 with the contribution of migrants in Palermo.

The cache is placed outside the Sanctuary, in the parking place. Please take care of the muggles, the ones at the restaurant windows too.
