Hubris Comics Publishing, who produced such famous titles as Grognak the Barbarian and The Adventures of Captain Cosmos, was working on a new type of story when... well, when they very suddenly went out of business. The new story, Reign of Grelok, was to be implemented in computer form, rather than on paper. The entire story as it stood at the time has been ported to wherigo, warts and all, and this is the result. The page coordinates are an excellent parking place, and the wherigo will lead you to the starting position. It should take about half an hour to complete.
Warning: The ending is quite gruesome, and may not be suitable for young children.
If you have read Grognak the Barbarian or seen the posters for Captain Cosmos, then you have probably read Reign of Grelok (beta) in its original form. I would love to hear if you have, but please do not say where you read it - don't spoil it for others!
Grelok
To play Reign of Grelok (beta) you need the cartridge, which you can download here (use the same login as you geocaching account). You will also need a Garmin Oregon or Garmin Colorado GPS, or a wherigo player application installed on your smartphone. There are numerous wherigo apps out there, all free. Drop me a line if you need help getting started with this.
A note on wherigos: When you are walking to a region do not stop at zero metres. Zero marks the boundary of the region and GPS jitter means you will pop in and out of it, making it hard to do what is required there. The solution is to walk past the zero, and be well inside the boundary.
This is DoC land. Camping is available at the north end of this little forest, about a kilometre from here, for a small fee. Water and toilets are there too, if needed.
