The parking space is in front of a house which used to be my grandparents. My grandfather was the local doctor and the old Dover Hospital was next door, half of it is still there but the other half was dismantled a few years ago.
From the cache location you have a view of the boat ramp and the Dover wharf. There is plenty of activity when the boats are in.
Dover is a lovely seaside town. It's a good place to base yourself if you want to explore the far south. There are tourist attractions such as Hastings Caves and Pool, the Ida Bay railway and the Tahune Airwalk ( via Geeveston). Also access to plenty of short walks, like Duckhole Lake, Southport Lagoon, South Cape, Hartz Mt walks (via Geeveston). This summer I managed 8 walks in the area and there are still more to do.
