Geocache Description:

This Series highlights Eagle Scout Projects by Scouts in the Simon Kenton Council. This is # 5 of 12 caches hidden within the SKC. Over the next several months, caches with the remaining Scout laws will be placed in or near other Eagle Scout Projects in SKC. If you find all 12 & can match the locations with the correct Scout Laws you will be sent a Cache to Eagle patch.

The goal of the project was to encourage the migration and nesting of Purple Martins in the Community Gardens of Genoa Township. With the increased presence of Purple Martins, the insect population would be greatly decreased, thus encouraging better ecological practices for the Genoa Township gardeners. This is particularly important due to the presence of the developing wetlands nearby. Per the scout: "I constructed and installed three twelve compartment Purple Martin Homes as well as constructed 20 bluebird homes (donated to Genoa Township) for installation on their planned Bluebird Trail. "Both aspects of this project encourage the conservation of avian species while also promoting the conservation of the area of their location.

Please park in the Genoa Township Community Gardens parking lot and walk to the cache.

This cache is a magnetic key holder and inside is written in permanent marker one of the Scout laws plus a pencil & log sheet.
