We've attended almost all the Dam Short Film Festivals and experienced tremendous change over the years. I'll admit that memories of the early ones, often shot on 35mm film and produced, scripted, directed and acted as amateur family projects (some pretty whacky) remain - for me - among the most nostalgic. Technologies, however, have changed, and the shorts we now view are generally more polished and represent substantial, and often professional, team efforts. Our Festival has also grown in international recognition, such that we now judge submissions from a wide range of countries outside the US. With the risk, of course, that with such technologic refinement, to sit back and watch a series of eight submissions might now feel a bit like grazing through eight TV channels. Unless there's an individual creativity or statement or view that grabs our attention - and I guess that is where we find the element of competition! And it's tough to judge - some with great cinematography and art direction, others with great scripts, others with superb acting, many with different messages... I often wish I could vote for more than one category, or vote for a tie!
OKAY - LET'S START AT THE HISTORIC POST WHERE THIS FESTIVAL MET IN ITS EARLY DAYS!
STAGE ONE: Proceed to the Posted coordinates, where you will find a Post number. ADD that number to the last digits of the above WEST coordinates. Then, just for good measure, SUBTRACT 2 from the final digit of the NORTH coordinates.
STAGE TWO: FOLLOW YOUR ADJUSTED COORDINATES TO NEAR ANOTHER POST, WHERE YOU JUST MAY FIND THE FINAL CACHE WAITING FOR YOU!
NOTE: THIS CACHE TO BE ARCHIVED SOON - SEE "https://veterans.nv.gov/american-legion-post-31-commander-glenn-fey"
