Baker University Wetlands Research and Natural Area is a 927 acre area north of the Wakarusa River south of the City of Lawrence. It contains native wetland prairie, restored meadows, marshes,open water, shrubby secondary growth, and mature riparian woodlands. The area is designated as a National Natural Landmark and Natural and Scientific Area. The area includes 7 miles of hiking and biking trails. Cache lies west of Parking Area #2.
This Cache is one of 8 Caches placed with the permission of the Wetlands. The Cache is located near a historic drainage control structure on Mink Creek. Hiking, bicycles, kids, and four-footed kids (leash and doggy bag required) allowed. Travel overland to the west from Parking Area #2 at Haskell Avenue and N. 1250 Road.
