Geocache Description:

Baker Univerity Wetlands Research and Natural Area is a 927 acre area north of the Wakarusa River south of the City of Lawrence. It contains native wetland prairie, restored meadows, marshes, open water, shrubby secondary growth, and mature riparian woodlands. The area is designated as a National Natural Landmark and Natural and Scientific Area. Area includes 7 miles of hiking and biking trails. Cache lies along the north bank of the Wakarusa River west of Haskell Avenue.


This Cache is one of 8 caches placed with permission of the Wetlands. The Cache is located near a historic drainage control structure on Mink Creek at its outlet to the Wakarusa River. Hiking, bicycles, kids, four-footed kids (leash and doggy bag required) allowed. Travel overland from Parking Area #2. Maps are available at the parking areas.
