Very soon it is "chipper" week at Mugdock Country Park by Milngavie again, the entire purpose of this week is to dispose (chip) the non native invasive species, our enemy, the Rhododendron. We had a good response last year from the Scottish Geocachers, the Ranger service allow us a large number of various cache types throughout the 600 acre park and it is nice to give something back to assist the Rangers. The date for the event is Sat 20th Feb which is the second last day we have the chipper, as a permanent volunteer at the park I will be at the visitor centre ramp to meet and greet you for 9.45am to 10am. If you just want to come for a couple of hours in afternoon that is great too but please PM me to first to let you know which area of the park we are working in, details and free maps will also be left at the visitor centre reception . If you fancy coming for a couple of hours it would be greatly appreciated, the rhoddies are all ready cut down however most need some sort of lopping or sawing or hauling out to the chipper, although there are many still standing if you want to take some down.... can be mucky work..lol...meet at the visitor centre metal ramp for 9.45 to 10am, we have our own room for changing etc. if you need to, there is an excellent cafe on site too. There are many caches spread across the park for you to enjoy, just come and say hello if you wish. Many thanks to all who helped out last year and maybe we will see you again.
All cachers who attend for at least a couple of hours will receive a £5 voucher per person to use in the park's Stables Cafe.
Be aware it can be a bit mucky so please wear suitable clothing, boots or wellies also a must.
Please feel free to PM me with any questions you may have or post on here.
