The coordinates are the starting location for this Wherigo. The Wherigo can be downloaded from the following link: A Costly Victory. This Wherigo will take you on a tour of the Battle of Monocacy which occurred on July 9th, 1864. This battle marks the last time Confederate forces fought the Union on Union ground. You may need tweezers to access the log.
The Monocacy National Battlefield Visitor Center is open daily from 8:30am-5:00pm except on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. You may want to pick up a pamphlet at the Visitor's Center before starting this Wherigo. The park's driving tour and hiking trails are open daily from 7:00am until 20 minutes after sunset. There are no fees to enter Monocacy National Battlefield.
Geocaches may only be placed on National Park Property at the direction of National Park Service staff. This cache has been approved by the Monocacy National Battlefield Park Rangers with Park Permit #16-02.
