Cache in Trache Out or CITO event ... a chance to give back to the community where geocaches are placed.



Saturday 23rd April 2016 (10am to 12 noon)
As part of Groundspeak's 2016 CITO Weekend we have organised in conjunction with Clean Cornwall a CITO event in the village of Pendeen.
The event will run from 10am (a short briefing) to 12pm when we will have a group photograph at the starting coordinates, followed by a picnic (weather permitting). There is a car park at the co-ordinates. Please ensure that you sign the logbook before starting so that we know how many volunteers are present. There will be a supply of rubbish sacks available and Clean Cornwall will be collecting the rubbish afterwards. There will be some gloves and litter pickers available for loan but if you have your own then please bring them along. If you find large or hazardous waste then please record the co-ords and a description, and let us know so that the Council can arrange collection.

General Advice:
Do not work alone and keep a first aid kit handy (there will be a first aid kit provided).
Always wear gloves and use litter pickers.
Do not lift anything heavy without help.
Use the right tool for the job.
Keep the work area tidy and safe.
If you do not like the look of it, do not touch it!
Please ensure that pets are under control and children supervised.

Pendeen is a small community in West Penwith, Cornwall. It lies in an area of outstanding natural beauty and close to a centre of Tin mining in Cornwall.
In support of the community of Pendeen, the plan is to collect litter from around the area which may have blown into hedges or dropped along roadways. There are a few service roads which have been identified as places to work on, thanks to our local Cornwall County Councillor for helping to do this. Rubbish, particularly squashed bottles, manages to end up in drains and block the pipes. This particularly troublesome to those in the community who find drains overflowing and mucky water heading towards their home or across a road. It also looks unsightly.

There are plenty of caches in this area and, maybe, a new one or two on the day.

Every care has been taken to identify potential risks. We have been working with Clean Cornwall to ensure safety. You should not touch any hazardous materials but take a note of where they are and report this to us. Clean Cornwall have details on their website which is very clear and easily accessed.
