Opened in 2014, this cantilevered lookout was erected in the Gorge reserve, The lookout is situated approximately halfway along the Duck Reach walking track, over looking the river which flows into the Basin where you can find pleasant walks, a swimming pool ( with wadding area for the little cachers), set amongst the beautiful gardens and surrounded by local bush.
The lookout is a great place to overlook the river, that once powered the nearby Duck reach power station, before the 100 year flood caused damage to the building. the power station has since been refurbished and serves as an attraction to learn about Tasmania's hydro electric scheme.
Located 20min walk from all 3 approaches (West Launceston, Basin and Duck reach) this just adds to the possibilities of caches you can retrieve along what I consider a tremendous walk.
The cache should be an easy find and should be an easy retrieval if you can time your grab between the many muggles that walk the tracks nearby.
Note: There is no need to climb over the security rails or fences to retrieve the cache, as you will see there is a way to fall should you slip.
