Geocache Description:

Along a steep, broad gravel road. You are looking for a bison tube.

This cache is fairly easy to get to, with parking available on Alexandra Road. Then it's a short walk across the soccer/cricket field to a path junction, and down the steep and sometimes slippery hill from there. It's something of a surprise to find a flat playing field up here in the hills. It must have been a bit of a project to carve it out of the rock when it was first created. Along the way are lovely views across the city, and down onto the Basin Reserve, Wellington College, and Wellington East Girls College. Tracks lead in several directions: to Wellington Hospital and Newtown, Mt Victoria summit, Mt Alfred (Te Akatarawa Pa site) and the two colleges. The cache is located just off the track, but there's no need to be a mountain goat to find it. Please take care to replace it exactly as you found it. Be warned that muggles can appear suddenly here, biking, walking or running along the tracks. And of course there are often junior muggles playing sports nearby, or walking up the 'gutbuster' as Wellington College staff and students know it, for sports practice. Please ensure that each member of your group signs the log.
