Well, another bitter-sweet year for our Boys in Blue. Not only were the Cowboys absent from the play-offs this year, it has been 20 years since 'America's Team' has played a Superbowl game.
The Dallas Cowboys have played in eight Superbowl games, winning five of those contests. The Cowboys dominated the game throughout the 1970's under coach Tom Landry, playing in five Superbowls that decade - winning in 1972 and 1978. Standout players in the 70's for Dallas include Roger Staubach, Tony Dorsett, Drew Pearson, Charlie Waters, and Thomas 'Hollywood' Henderson.
The Cowboy organization changed hands with Jerry Jones taking ownership in 1989. Dallas would again dominate the sport in the early 1990's - winning the Superbowl in 1993, 1994, and 1996. America's Team was back with Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irvin.
So, pass the chips, enjoy the commercials, and let's hope for an NFC victory - until our 'Boys make it back to the Big Game!
