Troop 316 just finished camping and hiking at the nearby Wind Wolves Preserve and wanted to hide a cache. I had eyed this spot a long time before, so today was the time for us to make the hide. There is a marker that talks about the original settlers. The marker information is duplicated below.
El Pueblo de San Emigdio
The first settlement in the souther San Joaquin Valley, inhabited by Mexicans, Spaniards and Native Americans, existed here between the late 1700s and 1895. At its height, there were 25 to 30 adobe homes, two general stores, a school, a church and two graveyards.
