Kefalonia, ook bekend als Cephallenia, Cephallonia, Kefallinia of Kefallonia, (Oudgrieks: Κεφαλληνία, Grieks: Κεφαλλονιά of Κεφαλονιά, Italiaans: Cefalonia) is een eiland in het westen van Griekenland, gelegen in de Ionische Zee. Het ligt net ten zuiden van het eiland Lefkas, ten noorden van het eiland Zakynthos. Het eilandje Ithaka ligt noordoostelijk bijna tegen Kefalonia aan.
Onder het schiereiland van Kefalonia ligt een onbewoond eiland genaamd "het konijneneiland". De Grieken noemen dit het konijneiland omdat er konijnen op leven, wat voor de Grieken zelf heel speciaal is. De hoofdstad van Kefalonia is Argostoli. Dit ligt in het westen van het eiland, ook aan zee.
Vergezichten zijn vanaf Kefalonia ruimschoots aanwezig, er is uitzicht op de andere eilanden en op de zee. Ook kan men uitstapjes maken naar de twee monumentale grotten de drogarati grotten en het melissani meer. Er is een klooster dat is gewijd aan de heilige (Agios) Gerasimos. Sommige mensen komen speciaal om de onechte karetschildpadden (Caretta caretta) te zien. Dit zijn zeeschildpadden. Er zijn er ten minste vier in Kefalonia die elke ochtend tussen 8 en 12 uur naar Argostoli komen. Ze eten de visresten afkomstig van de vissersboten die op dat tijdstip aanwezig zijn.
Dankzij het milde klimaat wordt er veel fruit geteeld zoals Citroenen en Druiven. Van de druiven wordt ook veel wijn gemaakt. Ook komen er veel olijfbomen voor. Op sommige plekken zelfs enkele (verwilderde) bananenbomen.

Céphalonie (grec moderne : Κεφαλονιά / Kefaloniá ou Κεφαλλονιά / Kefalloniá, de l’italien Cefalonia), connue dans l’Antiquité sous le nom de Céphallénie (grec ancien : Κεφαλληνία / Kephallēnía), est une île grecque de la mer Ionienne réputée pour ses gouffres. C'est la plus grande et la plus montagneuse des îles Ioniennes. Les villes principales sont Argostoli, la capitale, Lixouri dans la péninsule de Paliki (en), et Sami (port vers Patras et Ithaque). Elle constitue un dème (municipalité) et un district régional de la périphérie des Îles Ioniennes. Entre le xixe siècle et la réforme Kallikratis (2010), elle constituait avec l'île d'Ithaque le nome (département) de Céphalonie. Céphalonie est tres connue pour ses Citrons, ces olives, raisins. Sa population de tortues caret qui niche sur l’ile attire beaucoup de touristes .

Cephalonia or Kefalonia (Greek: Κεφαλονιά or Κεφαλλονιά), formerly also known as Kefallinia or Kephallenia (Κεφαλληνία), is the largest of the Ionian Islands[1] in western Greece. It is also a separate regional unit of the Ionian Islands region, and the only municipality of the regional unit. It was also a former Latin Catholic bishopric Kefalonia–Zakynthos (Cefalonia–Zante) and short-lived titular see as just Kefalonia. The capital of Cephalonia is Argostoli. Cephalonia is well known for its endangered loggerhead turtle population which nest on many beaches along the south coast of the island.
A small population of the endangered Mediterranean monk seal, Monachus monachus, also lives around the island's coast, especially on parts of the coast which are inaccessible to humans due to the terrain. Caves on these parts of the coast offer ideal locations for the seals to give birth to their pups and nurse them through the first months of their lives. The primary agricultural occupations are olives, fruites, grapes and lemons.
