Samos (Grieks: Σάμος) is een Grieks eiland in het oosten van de Egeïsche Zee, vlak voor de kust van Klein-Azië. Bestuurlijk behoort het tot de periferie Noord-Egeïsche Eilanden.
Vathy (of Samos-stad) is de hoofdstad van het eiland. Het is een havenstad in het noordoosten van het eiland. Het eiland heeft hoge bergen, zoals de Kerketefsberg in het westen, die met 1437 meter een van de hoogste bergen van de Egeïsche Zee is, en de Ampelosberg in het midden van het eiland, die 1150 meter hoog is. De plaats Pythagoreio heette tot 1955 Tigani en ligt aan de zuidoostkust, nabij het vliegveld van Samos. De plaatsen Vathy en Karlovasi liggen in het noorden van het eiland.
Samos heeft een aantal mooie kloosters.
Enkele goederen die op het eiland geproduceerd worden, zijn: wijn, olijfolie, honing en citrusvruchten. Vooral de zoete witte Samoswijn, gemaakt van muskaatdruiven, is wereldberoemd.

Samos (en grec Σάμος) est une île grecque de la mer Égée, proche de l'Asie Mineure et située à 70 kilomètres au Sud-ouest de Smyrne, aujourd'hui Izmir en Turquie. Elle forme un dème (municipalité) et un district régional de la périphérie d'Égée-Septentrionale. Son chef-lieu est la ville de Vathy ; les deux autres villes sont Chora et Pythagorion (Tigani). Elle compte 30 800 habitants (2001 ; Samiens ou Samiotes) pour 476 km2. L'île est célèbre pour ses poteries rouges, réputées dans l'Antiquité ; son artisanat d'art avec ses bronzes et ses bijoux, son bois de construction, son tabac, son vin (cépage malvoisie), ses fruits citriques, son miel et son huile d'olive.

Samos (/ˈseɪmɒs, ˈsæmoʊs/; Greek: Σάμος) is a Greek island in the eastern Aegean Sea, south of Chios, north of Patmos and the Dodecanese, and off the coast of Asia Minor, from which it is separated by the 1.6-kilometre (1.0 mi)-wide Mycale Strait. It is also a separate regional unit of the North Aegean region, and the only municipality of the regional unit.
In ancient times Samos was a particularly rich and powerful city-state, particularly known for its vineyards and wine production. It is home to Pythagoreion and the Heraion of Samos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that includes the Eupalinian aqueduct, a marvel of ancient engineering. Samos is the birthplace of the Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras, after whom the Pythagorean theorem is named, the philosopher Epicurus, and the astronomer Aristarchus of Samos, the first known individual to propose that the Earth revolves around the sun. Samian wine was well known in antiquity, and is still produced on the island. The Samian economy depends mainly on agriculture and the tourist industry which has been growing steadily since the early 1980s. The main agricultural products include grapes, honey, olives, olive oil, citrus fruit, dried figs, almonds and flowers. The Muscat grape is the main crop used for wine production. Samian wine is also exported under several other appellations.
