Geocache Description:

The Skyway Theatre was one of four Drive-In theatres which once operated in the area surrounding the City of London. Today only one drive in theatre remains in operation near the City of London known as the Mustang. < /p> Did you read the geocache description.

The Skyway Theatre was in operation in the late 1950s as I did come across a photo dated cicca 1956. There appears to be little information available about this operation. It was located at the southeast corner of Dundas Street and Clarke Road with the film screen appearing to be near the corner of the intersection with parking angled towards the southeast from the screen and a snack bar located south of the screen. Available information indicates that this drive in was a one screen operation and had parking for 596 cars, which would have made this facility one of the smaller drive in theatres in the London area.

The property here was later developed as a commercial mall which opened on June 22, 1966, with the prime tenant including Woolco (now long gone from the business scene), a bank, restaurant and a grocery store. The mall has been renovated over time but continues to operate under its original name with several stand alone stores close to where the theatre screen would have originally stood.
