Geocache Description:

The surrounding vegetation at Forrest is what gives it an extreme bushfire risk. But don't let this put you off visiting here, just be aware of the Fire Danger Ratings for the day. Take a stroll through the street and enjoy the scenery  A small cache with log and pencil. 

Here in Forrest is where some of the DELWP firefighters set up their base camp for the Wye River fire. During this time these firefighters called the area home, working hard to protect houses and property. Working even harder over christmas day and doing a great job along side CFA firefighters. With Forrests' extreme bushfire risk, people in the area (especially during the fire danger period) need to be aware of their surroundings and know the fire danger rating for each day. A bushfire survival plan is key for these times of danger. To find out the days Fire Danger Rating there is a Fire Ready App, CFA website or local radio stations. Stay safe geocachers, enjoy the area!
