Wye River: Respect Traditional Cache

This can be a tricky find. A small cache containing a log and pencil. Take a look at the vegetation around; see how close it gets to the beach. This area has an extreme bushfire risk. Extreme stealth is required to find this cache and remember to read the signs. Difficulty higher when area is busier as stealth is needed.  

Wye River has an Extreme bushfire risk, as we have unfortunately witnessed over Christmas (2015). Taking a look around at the vegetation you can see why. This is why it is very important to check the fire danger rating for each day and have a plan in place during the fire danger period. The Wye River community have been so strong through this disastrous period. The firefighters who gave everything are to be proud. It just shows how communities can join together after events like these.  Enjoy the area when you can but be alert when the weather is not favourable. Have a nice walk on the beach, it’s beautiful.
