Geocache Description:

This cache is placed in memory of a very well known 'Do it yourself' store which stood across the road from the cache. The whole company started as a small shop a couple of hundred yards from here in 1969 in a disused cinema. When it expanded it built a large store here and stood until last year when it closed its doors forever. It was an iconic building which is going to be missed by many as well as being very handy for 'bits and bobs'. When we moved into Mayfield Road 25 years ago we were in there often and over the years my husband popped in there practically every day as a great 'do it yourself' enthusiast. He misses the store and complains regularly about its demise!

At the moment it has recently been bulldozed into a pile of rubble. No doubt we are going to suffer upheavals and traffic diversions in the road as they prepare the land for the building of student accommodation!

This can be done as a cache and dash. Please note that on street parking during weekdays is for two hours only. Enjoy this cache.
