2016 Oconomowoc Area Historical Tour

Get to know the history of the Oconomowoc Area with family and friends. This is a fun and free community event.

Come join us at the Oconomowoc Area Historical Society Museum.
Starting at 9:30am we will be having an intro to Geocaching class followed by a short social gathering. After this short class and gathering, at 10:30 there will be coordinates handed out for some new local caches. Later in the day at 4pm we will be back at the pavilion at Roosevelt Park for some more social time.

Welcome to the 2016 Oconomowoc Area Historical Tour - A Geocaching Adventure. We will have 25 new Geocaches that will be located around the Oconomowoc area at historic sites, buildings, parks and events that took place throughout this area.

We tried to place the caches with various levels of difficulty, but the event is definitely family friendly and good for first-timers and experts. Event will be held rain or shine!

The first 100 Teams to register on this Event Page at Geocaching.com will receive a little Oconomowoc Swag.

The first 125 teams to achieve 25 points are eligible to receive a collectable 2016 Oconomowoc GeoCoin, trackable at Geocaching.com. You must sign the physical cache log for each Geocache you find and record your find at Geocaching.com to be eligible. One coin per team with completed and signed booklet.

Remember to record the stamp with the stamp (provided) from each cache in your Oconomowoc Area Historical Tour Booklet!

Event Rules and Guidelines:

1. Each team must register at the Oconomowoc Area Historical Museum in order to be eligible for the raffle prize drawings. Teams will receive their event booklet with the complete list of geocache sites and their coordinates after 10:30 AM

2. All coordinates will be distributed in hard copy form and not electronically in order to level the playing field for all contestants.
All 25 caches will begin with "OAHT "

3. Each team will receive 1 raffle ticket for registering. Additional raffle tickets may be earned, 1 for every 5 caches that are confirmed on the official scorecard/booklet. You must be present to win prizes. Prizes include gift certificates & baskets from our local businesses. Top prize is a one night stay at a local, historic Bed and Breakfast.

4. The event ends at Roosevelt Park under the Pavilion. Each team must be in line to submit their official scorecard by 4:45 PM in order to be eligible for prize tickets for the drawings. Raffle drawings start at 5:00

5. Teams may have as many members as they like, but remember, your official scorecard must have the stamp (which will be provided in the cache) to validate that you found the cache and receive a point for that cache. No cheating!

6. All caches are located so there is minimal disturbance to the land or environment. Please be sensitive to the property that you are on. Teams are instructed to obey all posted signs on all of the properties where geocaches are located.

7. Some caches have separate coordinates for parking. Please park only in designated parking areas. Please be sure to park fully off the road and do not create a hazard.

8. Remember that this is a family friendly activity, so act accordingly. There are many muggles in Oconomowoc to educate or avoid. Have fun! Event attendees assume all risks in seeking geocaches. The Oconomowoc Area Historical Society & Museum, City of Oconomowoc, the Town of Oconomowoc and the Village of Summit and any of its members or volunteers, may not be held liable for any direct, indirect, punitive or consequential damages connected with this event.

After the day of the Kick-Off, you may turn your completed booklet in at the Oconomowoc Area Museum located at 103 Jefferson Avenue, Oconomowoc. Please check the website for hours.
