By 1906 when the organ was installed the membership had risen to 60 and gas lighting was installed a year later. A decade late and alterations were already needing to be made to the original building to accommodate an extra 50 worshippers and a new pulpit was built at the same time. In 1928 the adjoining property at 7 St James Road was purchased in order for the church to expand still further.
By the 1950s the original church was falling into disrepair and a new plot of land was purchased up the road from the original site for a new church, plans for which were drawn up in 1953. The new church was built in 1955, and the old building remained to be used as a church hall. In the mid 1960s this building was then replaced with a new structure that could better serve the purpose of a church hall.
