Geocache Description:

Inspired by (and borrowing heavily from) ‘A Veggie Good Cache’ (GCTD49A) Red Squirrel presents,

‘A Veggie Good Cache 2’

You’ll first need to solve the following puzzle by finding the missing words in the story of Fen & Suma Berry. Each word is either a fruit, vegetable, nut, herb or spice and is generally a really awful pun. Some are a little more obscure than others but hopefully the puzzle is fun and not too hard.

Once you have all the 24 answers take the first letter of each word (there is one answer with two words - treat as two separate words) and assign it the corresponding position in the alphabet (i.e. A=1, B=2 etc.).

Next, sum up all the numbers you have to produce a 3 digit number in the form ‘abc’. The cache can then be found at:

N53 (b-a-4)(c-1).b(b-8)(a+c+2) W2 (c-a+1)(c+c).(b-1)(c-a)(a-1)

Note, there is no multiplication to be done when working out the coordinates; simply substitute the numbers as stated (i.e. don’t expand any brackets)

The final is a themed container located in an aptly named area. Only room for log however so please BYOP & possibly tweezers. There is parking nearby and a large layby within 5 mins walk.

Enjoy….and try not to grow-n too much ;)

Fen & Suma Berry were brother & sister living in Sale. They were inseparable; like ____ in a pod. They were twins but Fen was the __________ by just a few minutes.

On a typically wet and ______ night in November Suma had just got back from spin class at the gym. She was complaining that her gym kit has been chaffing and that she had to keep scratching. “This _______ is terrible today, Fen” said Suma.

The next day Suma’s American friend Tom was visiting. There was a knock at the door. “_____” said Suma. They were tucking into a hearty meal of alphabet soup when Suma noticed that there were only three _______ instead of 26. Undeterred, Suma ate all the Bs, Fen ate G and ______. Fen remarked that he really liked the Ps but that the _____ be very elusive in alphabet soup. Suma preferred the Es but they were also hard to get hold of as she’d tried to buy them before but the Alphabet soup shop wouldn’t _____ because they were out of stock. “We’ve had a rush this morning because we’ve had a sale _____ F” said the shopkeeper.

Sometime later Fen, Tom & Suma were off to visit their favourite place, Manchester zoo. In fact they were all there for the third time this week; “what a bunch of _________ we are” thought Tom.

They were waiting a long while for a Metro into town when Fen said “maybe we should just get a taxi as the Metro is very ____ today and a ______ probably cheaper anyway”. “____ advice” thought Tom.

At the entrance Fen couldn’t find his money and rather unfairly accused Tom of taking it; “Well, if you didn’t steal my ______ did?!”

“Is it really your ___ ____ that I took your wallet?” said Tom, “Look buddy, listen to ______, maybe you just misplaced your wallet.”

“Oh don’t worry, I’m sure it’ll ______” said Suma.

They all had a really nice _____ at the zoo and Tom even ran into a couple of his old friends from America. ________ and Tom chatted for a while but Brock had to leave and Oliver had to get back to his hotel as he was feeling a little ____ after a long day.

Tom and Fen were on their way out but they couldn’t see Suma anywhere. Then Fen spotted a bench next to the Dodo enclosure and as he got closer sure enough there on the bench ______.

On the way home Fen was looking through his bag when he found his wallet. “Tom, really sorry about earlier”.

“Don’t worry about it” said Tom; “Hey Suma, let’s stop at the pub, ______ get ‘em in!”

The end.
