Geocache Description:

This series of caches has been placed to celebrate each Scout Jamboree held in Australia. The Australian Scout Jamboree is a massive camp for Scouts which is held every three years by Scouts Australia and are for members of the Scout Section aged 11 to 15 years of age. They are hosted every three years on a rotating basis by one of the State Branches.


Access is restricted to the Dam grounds as follows……

Open10am to 5pm daily.                                                                      

Extended hours, 10am to 7pm, on weekends and public holidays and during daylight saving time.

Entry is free. No entry is permitted 15 minutes prior to closing time.

Clifford ParkLord Clifford became the owner of the farm in 1942. In 1948 he offered the use of approximately 480 acres to Scouts Australia for the 3rd Pan Pacific Jamboree. Referred to as "Yarra Brae Jamboree", it was the first post-war international scout gathering and attracted 11,000 scouts and scouters from around the world.

Finders Street Station, Collins Street, St Kilda Beach Pier, Luna Park, Captain Cook's Cottage and Melbourne Observatory were some of the sights visited by the boys.

Scouting and Guiding have been a major part of our family's life for over 70 years and continues to be. Many thanks to all those leaders who have influenced our lives, it's a great great game!!!
