ORS - One Room School series. Harrington School was established between 1874 and 1893, built as a typical frame school house. It was said the bell was on a pedestal out front, not on the building (this was common). I don't have much history on the school, nor have I found out where the Harrington name has come from (usually a family that donates the land, the road it's on or the town it's in - in this case it's on Harrington Road, but who was the road named for?).
CACHE: Due to the very visible location, this cache was placed to get in and out without going too far from the roadway. Small camoed pill container. This cache fulfills the historic element and the numbers for those seeking CAD's. Use stealth and be respectful if you choose to grab at night.
ADDITIONAL AREA INFO: If you wish to wander further down Vernor Road westward, maybe to seek out the caches on the other side, through state land the road is seasonal and not maintained by road commission. Drive at your own risk past Long Lake Road. In good road conditions I do recommend this area, it's very scenic. It's a nice hike if you choose to park in the DNR lot just west of Long Lake Road and walk in. Being DNR run state land, it is a hunting and fishing area.
Congrats to *S&M* for [FTF] and Woodtrain for [STF]
