Makepeace Little Free Library Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Southerntrekker: Hi There

As the owner has not responded to either my log or my colleague's previous log requesting that they check this cache I am archiving it.

Please note that once the cache has been archived, this can not be undone. This is explained in the Help Center - http://support.groundspeak.com//index.php?pg=kb.page&id=70

You will need to create a new listing, put it back in for review and as long as it meets today's guidelines and no other caches have been published in the area causing a proximity problem, then it will be published.

Regards

Geocache Description:

It's easy to find the right place. But can you spot the secret hiding place where the geocache is stored?

The Holly Lodge Estate is an estate located on the site and grounds of a villa built in 1798 by Sir Henry Tempest on the south-facing slopes of Highgate, London adjacent to Highgate Rise, now known as Highgate West Hill. The estate lands included Traitor's Hill, reputedly where members of the gunpowder plot had met to watch the Palace of Westminster blow up although since known to be false.

We are a young family, keen on geocaching but also reading books. We have just built a little "library" at the front of our house, in which to share the books we have loved with other readers who might happen to pass by. If you have a book you have finished reading and want to share with others, bring it with you and perhaps you'll find another you'd like to swap it for?

Whilst we were buildinG our library, we realised there was a perfect hidinG place for a reasonably sized Geocache too, combininG another of our hobbies. See if you can find it!

The general location of the geocache hiding place is pretty obvious from the public footpath, and lies on the boundary of the footpath with our own property, so there is no issue of trespass. You will not need to leave the public footpath or even lean over the garden wall to find the geocache, so there is no need to enter private property in order to find it. Although the library is intended for passers-by to stop and take a look, and so you shouldn't attract any unwarranted suspicion, please keep your hunting time to the hours of daylight to avoid worrying the neighbours. Stay on the footpath and you'll be fine.
