6. Pro nejširší lidové vrstvy lyžování nebylo plně dostupné z finančních důvodů. Často se lyžníci museli spokojit jen se základním vybavením, na módní doplňky se pak šetřilo další rok. Všimněte si také jednoduchého vázání na holou nohu, kdy řemínek z kůže, připevněný vpředu k lyži prochází mezi palcem a druhým prstem na noze, rozděluje se na dva prameny, které obepínají chodidlo a jsou opět pevně spojeny s lyží. Tento revoluční způsob vázání nebyl bohužel chráněn patentem a později byl zneužit asijskými obchodníky s letní obuví (tzv. vietnamky).

Not everybody could afford skiing due to financial reasons. Often, skiers had to buy just the basic equipment, and saved money to buy fashion accessories next year. Notice also the simple binding to bare leg when leather strap attached to the front passes between the thumb and the next toe , then it is divided into two strands that wrap around the foot and are again firmly connected to the skis. This revolutionary way of binding unfortunately was not protected by a patent and it was later abused by Asian traders with summer shoes (ie. flip-flop/thong).
