Apollo Bay Fire Brigade is one of the few brigades in the area that are a rope rescue brigade as well. Members attend a course on both the theory and practical side to have appropriate skills when accidents do happen. A cache with log, pencil and tradables. Stealth required and tread carefully.
Apollo Bay Fire Brigade is one of the few brigades which are specialised in rope rescues. Members attend a course where they learn all different knots and how to use all the equipment used in a rope rescue like pulleys and harnesses. They learn the twin-rope rescue system where two people are connected by two pieces of rope at all times. Members here will find themselves without assistance from other rescue brigades (Geelong city, Portland, Warnambool) for up to an hour. Because of this they are a very efficient at what they do until more help arrives. They respond to 80 - 90 calls a year. Take a look at their facebook page (Apollo Bay Fire & Rescue) for what they have been doing lately in training and jobs. They do a great service to their community. Enjoy the area, stay safe and updated on whats happening while you travel around here Geocachers!
