7th annual Pick and Pull Cache In Trash Out® Event

This cache has been archived.

Danbg: Well I quess it's now official, Phred has posted his attended log. Way back when when I started hosting CITOs at the cave they were for the most part half-hazard with little direction or organization. Then a few years ago the cave and I decided to combine the CITOs with the cave's invasive weed pull project. I guess the CITOs more or less piggy backed off the weed pull event. Now I believe the CITOs are pretty much a stand alone event that happens on the same day as the weed pull. Each year it seems to get a little stronger and more organized. This year it went went off without a hitch and I think there was a record amount of trash picked up (see picture) I think that if all the trash that has been collected over the years was all put together into one pile it would fill several dumpsters. I would like to thank The Lost River Cave (and especially Lost River Annie) for putting up with me for all these years and all they have done for Geocachingin the park. I hope next year is even better.

Geocache Description:

CITO at The Lost River Cave

The time has rolled around for the annual pick and pull event at The Lost River Cave. The event is being held to pick up tras at the park. However if you want to pull weeds that's fine. It's a perfect way for the caching community to thank or repay the Lost River Cave for all they have done for Geocaching in the Bowling Green area. The event will be from 1;00 pm until 4;00 pm. Meet at The Birch Meeting Room. The CITO will have it's own table. Gloves and trash bags will be furnished. As before participates will receive free boat ride/cave tour passes. The cave tour tickets can be used anytime. Come join the fun. The first 10 people to make a (will attend) log will receive a Lost River Cave 5000 finds path tag. I was thinking, The event is scheduled for three hours and we always finish well before that. Maybe pick up trash on the Cave Mill Road side of the park also. I guess it depends on he number of attendees and how many adults. Maybe break up into two groups. Another thing I forgot to mention. All attendees must sign a liability release form. They will be available at the registration desk. If you are not 18 years old you must have a parent sign for you. I have had one or two questions asked about it. Maybe I need to go into more detail. The CITO will mostly be held on the Dishman Road side of the park. That seems to be where the most trash is. The valley and trails are for the most part trash free plus all the people pulling weeds will be everywhere. However if you are coming to the event to see the park I have a few options. I will be at Ci Ci’s Pizza at noon but I can meet anyone at the park around 10:00 am to walk the trails and find all the caches. Another option is if one wants to CITO in the valley between 1:00 and 4:00 they are more than welcome to do so. A third option is to tour the valley after the group finishes picking up trash. It usually only takes little over an hour to pick up the trash, the reason for the three hour window is to go along with the cave’s invasive weed pull event. If anyone wants to go at 10:00 please message me Danny (DANBG)
