Note: April 3, 2015 - Looks like 2008 may have been the last time I checked on this cache. My bad. I visited it today and added a new notebook, pen and some "treasures" -- 50 wheat pennies. Please, these pennies are worth exactly 1¢ so take only one and leave the rest for others to enjoy. If they had any real value I wouldn't have left them here.
The art in the sheds is more impressive than I remember. Enjoy!
Note: September 10 2008 - Yesterday I placed a new cache in the original location and removed the cache from the train shed. The one and only cache is once again located at the coordinates listed. I'm confounded by the apparent self-mobility of the cache over the last year. Please, geocachers, leave caches where you find them.
The route to this cache at the intersection of trans-sierra transportation history can be hard or easy, but it's definitely thrilling and the views are great. For a real challenge, bring ropes and hardware for a class 5 rock climb. For an easy and exciting approach, park across from Donner Ski Ranch and bring a flashlight. For something in between, find and follow the old emigrant route. Or, you can reach it on mountain bikes as we did when we stashed the cache. Whichever way you go you'll be rewarded with history, scenery and fun.
