Please join us for Geocaching's CITO Weekend on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 8:00am to 10:00am as we partner for the third time with the City of Scottsdale to 'Keep Scottsdale Clean & Beautiful'. Coolwater Christian Church has graciously given approval to use their parking lot (entrance off 56th St) as a staging area. Please be respectful of their property and don't block the entrance. Look for our large geocaching banner on site.
Meet at 8:00am at GZ in the parking lot of Coolwater Christian Church to sign the logsheet, complete the "Participant Agreement Form", pick up supplies and gather for a group photo. We are working closely with the City of Scottsdale who will provide safety vests, litter bags, cotton gloves and will remove the trash we gather. Geocachers should bring water, wear long pants, long sleeve shirts, hat and sunscreen for protection from the thorny plants and trees. You might also want to bring thick gloves and grabbers.
We will pick up litter on a portion of 56th Street from Dynamite to Jomax Road. This 1-mile section has a fairly level terrain and low to moderate traffic. When picking up trash, please park completely off the road on the west side of 56th. Trash bags and litter should be left at the side of the road -- the City will pick up the litter the following week.
Per City of Scottsdale regulations children between the ages of 12-17 must have parental supervision and all volunteers will be required to sign a "Participant Agreement Form and Waiver of Liability", which we will have available the morning of the event. Children under the age of 12 are not permitted on the road but with parental supervision may clean up the parking lot or desert area around the Church.
As a bonus, those attending "Cache In Trash Out (CITO)" event April 16 thru April 24 will earn a new souvenir for their geocaching profile.
Please contact us if you have any questions and also post your "Will Attend" log indicating how many in your party to ensure we have enough supplies. See you there!
