Follow the path at the trailhead to a social path on the left. At the cache location, pull out the tool, find where it belongs and crank it to open the door and access the log.
PLEASE DO NOT FORCE THE DOOR OPEN. IF YOU ARE FORCING ANYTHING, YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG!
