Geocache Description:

It is believed that this track was once a route made by the Romans to link their forts in Glossop and Hope Valley. It's name is derived from a path that historians believe was used by Doctor John Talbot in the 15th century to travel between Glossop and Sheffield.

HOWEVER, a recently installed information post near to the GZ will tell you that Romans are never thought to have passed this way, but instead inform you of the history of the immediate area - definitely worth pausing for 2 minutes to take a look!

The cache is a 35mm film container, located under a bridge not far up the trail from the start point at the end of Shepley Street. From the GZ there are astounding views eastwards up the valley. Please take care to replace the cache as found. The rock used to hide the cache took me a while fishing around for (needed the perfect fit) and it should protect the cache from the elements if hidden securely.

This is a resurrection of a previous cache of mine in the same spot which met its end when the old bridge was removed to make way for the new one.

The original FTF honours went jointly to harristwins and coronasv. Let's see who gets this incarnation!
