Tomhannock Shoreline Clean-up Cache In Trash Out® Event

This cache has been archived.

RenMin: A big thanks, once again, to all who braved the beautiful weather to help at the Tomhannock Reservoir. I was impressed by the turn out and the work we all accomplished. Although a bit scattered at this event, we joined forces for some serious cleaning. See you next year or maybe this fall for another. It seems all have logged, but if I missed you don't worry you can still post an "attended" log after the archive.

Below please read the note I got from the RLT.

Thank you so much for helping the Rensselaer Land Trust clean up the Tomhannock Reservoir. This year was one of our best turn outs with 71 people working! We amassed an incredible pile of trash and restored the beauty that this special place in Rensselaer County deserves. We host many events throughout the year and they are not all work. Please check out our web site at RLT web site for more details and consider becoming a member. Thanks again and I hope to see you all next year.

Geocache Description:

In collaboration with the Rensselaer Land Trust, we will be helping clean the shoreline of the Tomhannock Reservoir.
In 1904, the reservoir was created when several farms were "confiscated" and the land flooded. The Tomhannock supplies water to the city of Troy.

WATER

Geocachers are no strangers to the roads that snake around the reservoir. Who hasn't spent a quiet Saturday morning picking up caches and taking in the beautiful views here?
I hope you will consider coming out this year. Now lets talk about the plan.

When?

Saturday, April 16th from  0900-1200
Where?
/>
We will gather at CITO IP to get our assignment. A section of shoreline will be given to our group to comb for trash and debris that has accumulated over the winter months. Any trash we collect will be left on the roadside in a designated area to be picked up by the City of Troy.
Please consider staying after for lunch. Details to follow.
Need?

Details will be forthcoming as we get closer.
Attendees should wear hiking boots, pants, long sleeve shirt.
Consider bringing tick/ mosquito repellant, work gloves, and some water.
Garbage bags will be provided by RLT.

Ummm... it appears you have run out of excuses.

See you soon.
