The Attleboro Area Community Garden is a joint endeavor of the City of Attleboro and the Attleboro Land Trust. The recently-upgraded garden consists of 62 separate plots, including 8 with enhanced access. The plots are made available to local residents each year on a first-come, first-served basis and includes a nominal donation. Gardeners are required to use organic methods, which means no pesticides or chemical fertilizers.
The Attleboro Land Trust manages the garden on land provided by the City of Attleboro, which provides support services including provision of water and compost. Local merchants have also donated supplies.
According to Mark Pechenik, founder of the garden,
"The Attleboro Area Community Garden enables people from all walks of life to join together in the simple but community-building hobby of gardening. We cordially invite those who share this same civic spirit to join us as community gardeners."
This quote presents the overall character of the people of Attleboro: open, accepting of difference, tolerant of change, working together for a common good and proud of our community. As a citizen of this city for over 60 years, I can attest to this fact!
Congrats to Eaglecap3 for being FTF. The runner-up award goes to FINDINGneMOE and SeekingShandy for being on the heels!
