This is a memorial cache for my Dad who passed away on Feb 8, 2016. He was a retired U.S. Army officer in the Field Artillery, and loved hunting, fishing, and all sorts of outdoor activities. He loved being out in nature scouting for locations and was introduced to geocaching a few years ago, but unfortunately, too late to search for anything with a high degree of difficulty. In the military, the position of Forward Observer is a critical function for the safety and operation of their unit. I hope in selecting the location for this cache, I have done justice to his caliber of skill.
This cache is an ammo box nestled in the sage bushes that run along this ridge that slopes downward to the West. There is an amazing 180º view from Badger Mountain in the South, Benton City, the Yakima River Valley and Rattlesnake Mountain in the West, and up to Hanford in the North. You can see the plume of steam rising from the Columbia Generating Station.
The intent for this cache is to be a Possibles Bag for outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen as a trading post (of sorts) to take or leave useful items. The first items in this ammo box were: an orange waterproof container for matches, cyallume light sticks, red&white fishing bobbers, plastic shotglasses, and a container of bags for CITO dog poop.
