Geocache Description:

This cache is on the new Twin Lakes 2.3 mile loop at Teatown.  This is in a section that was formerly part of the Back 40 trail.

This cache was placed with permission from the people at Teatown Lake Reservation.  At Teatown Reservation, all geocachers must check in to the administration building before seeking the cache and the administration building is open dawn to dusk daily.

The Back 40 trail was always my favorite at Teatown.  Far less crowded than the popular Lakeside trail, the Back 40 offered varying terrain and a very nice view at its summit.  Teatown acquired more land, and after a series of storms eroded part of the old descent from the Back 40 summit an updated version of the trail was created.  The new trail is a 2.3 mile loop called Twin Lakes.  It incorporates much of the old Back 40 but adds in a scenic route between Shadow Lake and Vernay Lake, hence the new name.

This cache is slightly off the trail but minimal bushwacking should be required.  A little GPS bounce with the trees.  Cache is small so BYOP.   A lot of nice rock outcrops in the area. I always felt this stretch of the trail to be secluded and tranquil, I hope you feel the same.  Enjoy!
