Geocache Description:

This cache is located at an elevation inbetween Shadow Lake and Vernay Lake, on the new Twin Lakes trail at Teatown.  Much of this trail was formerly known as The Back 40, though this is part of the new section.

This cache was placed with permission from the people at Teatown Lake Reservation.  At Teatown Reservation, all geocachers must check in to the administration building before seeking the cache and the administration building is open dawn to dusk daily.

The Back 40 trail was always my favorite at Teatown.  Far less crowded than the popular Lakeside trail, the Back 40 offered varying terrain and a very nice view at its summit.  Teatown acquired more land, and after a series of storms eroded part of the old descent from the Back 40 summit an updated version of the trail was created.  The new trail is a 2.3 mile loop called Twin Lakes.  It incorporates much of the old Back 40 but adds in a scenic route between Shadow Lake and Vernay Lake, hence the new name.

This cache is in a section of mild switch-backs on the new part of the Twin Lakes Trail. A decent elevation change from top to bottom.    Beware of GPS bounce due to rocks and trees...Cache is small so BYOP! Cache is very close to trail so please replace as hidden!
