It seems that the village of Dobarsko is a magical place. Settled at the foot of Rila mountian, it attracts more and more visitors not only with its natural resourses or historical heritage , but as if it has own charming soul. Or as its tourist slogan says "Where the legends stop not". The village is absolutely obligatory for ever tourist passing near by, The picturesque atmosphere will deffinitely grab your heart. The location is so specific, highest balkan mountain Rila in the back, while the ski slopes of modern resort Bansko visible in white and melting with the blue sky in front of you. Contemplating the panoramic view surrounded by adobe and wooden houses ,that smell of history...
First historic documents, where the village is mentioned, date back to 1378, but an inscription in the outstanding church of St. Theodore Tyron and St. Theodore Stratelates even goes as early as 1014! This church is famous for its truly unique murals depicting 460 saints. Most famous being Jesus Christ heading upwards in a rocket-like spacecraft(!), and all of them perfectly preserved without any renovation. The spring in the yard is believed to heal the blinded soldiers of Tsar Samuil after the battle of Kluch. Until present day it doesn't dry out even in the hottest summer days.
Not even a kilometer from the village, an ancient roman kiln has been discovered. An unique artefact, one of the very few discovered on bulgarian teritory and preserved in very good condition. Besides a GC is hidden there too GC406XM
My first visit was devouted to the aforementioned church , but now I found that i've been some few hundred meters from an amazing waterfall. And so i just had to pay another visit, having my cache container bag with me ;) The waterfall is located just few meters after the last houses of the village, on the small creek Klinetsa. Amazing with its height of 30 m, it's breathtaking as in the summer and in the winter. Please be careful when passing over the creek!
