This will be a surprise activity event as it needs to fit in with the work already scheduled for the park. More information will become available closer to the event but James has promised an enjoyable time for those who attend. For the event cachers would need to wear strong footwear and clothing to suit getting down and dirty! Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. The park itself is quite clear of litter and has regular weekly litter picks but I have been given permission to run a small extra CITO litter picking activity just outside the park. This means that if other geocachers wish to attend we can now accommodate their attendance.
There is a cafeteria on site serving refreshments, which will open at 11:00 until 17:00. There is a pay and display car park which costs £2 for the whole day. Dogs are allowed on site but not in the cafeteria. There are seating areas outside. Toilets are available
Severn Valley Country Park is situated near Alverley in Shropshire. This park was developed in 1992 on the site of the old Highley and Alverley coal mine. It now boasts a 126 acre park consisting of woodlands, meadows and riverside banks with stunning views overlooking the river Severn. There is plenty to see and do whilst at the park, including bird watching, finding a natural spring wells, play areas for the children and exploring the historical background of the site. Nearby there is the Severn Valley Railway and a short walk would take you to Highley Station and the Railway museum. There are also plenty of caches to find around this area.
