Explore the best of Canada’s seacoast as you journey along the trail where awe-inspiring natural beauty is matched by the vibrant celtic culture of our region. This exceptional trail system meanders along the coast providing first-class trail experiences for bikers, hikers, runners, quadders, skiers, snowmobilers and horse-back riders.
This station was where coal and other resources from all along the Inverness railway line would be loaded onto boats for shipping. There was a ferry at point tupper but this railway didn't go to Point Tupper until later. A shipping pier was built here, 600 feet long and raising the trains 64 feet up so they could be emptied in to the boats. Considering this is the deepest natural port in the world, and they built this pier out of rock and wood to raise a steam engine train 64 feet up, that's no small accomplishment, nor would a steam engine climbing it. See the related webpage for a picture of the structure (some reason I can't copy it).
