Geocache Description:

Take a walk on the world's most famous beach. This is #42 in the series and as with the others it is in a very high muggle area so use extreme stealth. This hide is in direct view if the toll taker so best hunt times are early morning and evenings when the toll booth is closed. Accessible from the beach or P&G on the ramp. Congrats to jasonness on another FTF in the series!

Volusia County's world famous beaches attract millions of visitors each year. The county's Lifeguard Corps play an important role in keeping these beachgoers safe.

County lifeguards make about 3,000 ocean rescues each year. Lifeguard responsibilities include water rescue of swimmers and surfers, boater rescue up to three miles offshore, missing persons and related emergencies. Volusia County Lifeguards also handle enforcement of beach laws and regulations related to beach and water use. The county's Lifeguard Corps uses a wide range of rescue equipment to handle these duties.

The Volusia Surf Lifesaving Association was founded in 1975, as a member-based fraternal organization and local chapter of the United States Lifesaving Association. Ocean lifeguards have been serving the residents and visitors of Volusia County since 1923. Today, the VSLA is the largest USLA chapter in Florida, with over 250 members. It serves the interests of current, former, and prospective employees of the Volusia County Beach Safety & Ocean Rescue division, which is the largest and busiest lifeguard corps in Florida,
