Geocache Description:

Top of a famous local rock, with great views of Albany

This cache will take you to a little known lookout, which overlooks part of Albany and has some great views. You're not a true Albany local if you have never been here, so it is a must visit place. Visitors will also enjoy the great views up North Rd and its surrounds. There was a cache in this area previously (archived in 2012), so the 15th anniversary of WA geocaching event held in Albany was a good excuse to put a brand new cache in this lovely spot.

Bluff Rock is also known by several other names, including the unofficial name Kangas Rock (the nickname of the North Albany Football Club, which was spray-painted in big letters here in the 1980s/90s) and the former name Craggy Bluff (used in post-settlement times, and designated as such on older maps). It is located in the Barmup Reserve, with Barmup being the name that pre-settlement Aborigines used to refer to the wider locality, which also included Strawberry Hill and the Old Farm.

For easiest access, parking is available near the corner of Collingwood Rd and Beresford Rd. You can also park at the end of David St, where there are picnic tables nearby). .

Cache is a small camo. Please return carefully to the same spot, since this place does get quite a few visitors and it would be a shame for the cache to disappear. Also please take your own pencil/pen.
