IgnotusPeverell: Greetings. I'm IgnotusPeverell, one of the volunteer reviewers for geocaches submitted to Geocaching.com.

Geocache Description:

****Please park at the waypoint just pull straight forward as you enter the driveway and park in the gravel directly in front of you so not to block the way if we need to respond to an emergency.**** This the second of two geocache locations to introduce you to the local Ambulance stations and our daily operations. Our full time crews call this home away from home we typically spend a minimum of 48hrs per week at our assigned stations.

.Delta County Ambulance District (DCAD), formed in 1999, combined two Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operated by the Town of Cedaredge and the Delta County Fire District # 1. DCAD covers 330 square miles including 55% of the County’s rural population. The area is comprised of Delta Fire District #1, and Cedaredge and Orchard City Fire District #3. DCAD crews are trained and equipped to provide Advanced Life Support services. Emergent and non-emergent transport care is also provided in and out of the district. Paramedic intercepts provide Advanced Life Support services to North Fork Ambulance Association, West Elk Mine, Olathe Fire Protection District, and Lands End Fire Protection District. DCAD provides critical care in rural search and rescue situations. DCAD coordinates services with St. Mary’s CareFlight. DCAD provides transports to and between the county’s skilled nursing facilities and assisted living communities. In 1999 the Ambulance District responded to 1,769 calls. The service ended 2005 with 2,114 calls, an increase of 345 responses over 6 years. The Delta station houses the business office, crew quarters and four ambulances. Station 2, completed in the spring of 2006, replaced the rented facilities in Cedaredge. This building is a 3 bedroom modular home with a large attached garage (housing two ambulances). This 1 acre lot and home was designed with the flexibility to be relocated if population densities increase in the northern part of the county. The station is financed with a ten year lease/purchase. Crews operate 7 days a week 24 hours a day at both stations. Crews consist of one Basic and one Advanced Life Support provider. The District provides employees with training opportunities and promotes personal development through employee educational loans and promotional opportunities including special assistance with Paramedic training. The Service provides around 20 CPR and First Aid classes to the public, local fire departments, police, county employees, and schools each year. Crews provide numerous stand-bys at events including high-school football games, rodeos and parades. Stand-by services are provided at no-cost to the hosting organization. However there is a charge for continuous coverage at events.
