An opportunity for newcomers to geocaching to meet some experienced cachers who will show them the basics of a GPS to try out some temporary caches before heading off to explore published caches of their choice. Crombie has some Etrex10 units which will be available to borrow in return for a secure deposit. GPS units work best as mobile phone signals vary a lot.
There are 30 geocaches in Crombie Country Park including letterbox caches, puzzle caches and also a podcache The plan is to create two more caches both of which will involve puzzles which can be solved on the day to find the correct coordinates. Also we plan to have a variety of caches for the beginners and not so beginners who came last year. These will be temporary caches and the waypoints will be placed on this page nearer the time. Also we hope to have Cache making table for those who want to know what to put in a cache to set your own cache in a place you want to share with other people.. Anyone who wants to make a cache can do so for a small donation to help cover costs.
Event runs 10am - 3pm. There will be a BBQ to which you are welcome to bring along a sausage or two to cook. If you would like to donate anything else for the food table, it will be gratefully accepted - homebaking especially!!
