Jared E. Fair Kirksey, Jr. enlisted in Tarrant’s Battery as a Private on July 25, 1863. A geological report noted that “Jared E.F. Kirksey served in the Civil War with Tarrant’s Battery, Alabama, Light Artillery. He died June 10, 1864 as a result of Civil War Injury.”

His grave marker has engraved at the top the Southern Cross of Honor, and also notes his service with Tarrant’s Battery.
