Robert Kitchen’s grave marker has deteriorated to now being crumble stone with all the engraving unreadable. Two things point to this being his grave, a foot stone with his initials on it, and a marker for Nancy, wife of R.A. Kitchens.

The recruiting of volunteers to Company D of the 2^nd Alabama Cavalry was strong in the Foster’s community. Buried in this cemetery are 5 other veterans from this company that returned to Foster’s after the war. No mention is made of the men from this company that died during the war and are buried elsewhere.

Robert enlisted early in the war, and was one of the older men to do so in this company, being 37 years old.
