Geocache Description:

Introduction

See Green Chain #1 for cache trail introduction.

Route

Cross the footbridge and then follow the path to Minster Road. Cross over and take the footpath between houses (Nichol Lane). Turn right into Foxbury Road and then into Croft Road, bringing you out onto the main road. Cross Burnt Ash Lane and head down the wide leafy Park Avenue.

Description

The pub that you walked past is first mentioned in records dating to 1761 and is now owned by a fairly major UK brewery. It's not entirely clear who the pub is named after but Frederick Louis was Prince of Wales until his untimely death in 1751 so it may well have been him. He was a big fan of cricket (and a cricket related injury may have contributed to his death) and I found reference to him playing in a match at Bromley Common so he may well have visited the area.

The Cache

The original cache (a very short distance away) was worrying a muggle who lived nearby and so this has been disabled for a little while for me to come up with a new hiding place. Now replaced with new co-ordinates and hopefully not so much in the resident muggle's line of sight! This is 100% reachable from the pavement and you are looking for a magnetic small micro (or large nano if you prefer!) - this is a new type of cache that I'm trialling before making more...
