Geocache Description:

Introduction

See Green Chain #1 for cache trail introduction.

Route

Oaklands Road takes a sharp turn to the left, but you need to turn right onto Coniston Road (unmade). Shortly after, turn left into Elstree Hill.

Description

Elstree Hill gets some fascinating water channels running down it after heavy rain – it's like a geography lesson on rivers in action! About half way down look out on the right for a gateway formed from the doorway of the 1874 School Board Offices, designed by Bodley and Garner and re-erected here in 1930 by E Alexander Young. This now forms the entrance way to a 1970s house designed by visionary architect Walter Segal. This in turn was built in the gardens of a listed 'Italian Villa' that was expanded from a summer house belonging to Bromley Hill Place – this can just be seen behind the more modern property.

The Cache

You are looking for a custom cache container (nano tube inside). Again, not on anyone's property. Fun fact – you are standing almost exactly on the Greenwich Meridian! This one is causing problems now all the plants are furiously growing - hint updated a couple of times.
