Electric Company. One of two utility blocks on the Monopoly game board. In game play, if the player who owns the block, only owns both Electric Company and Water Works, you pay ten times the number rolled on the dice. If only one is owned, then you pay four times the number on the dice. If not owned, you better have the cash to buy this valuable space on the board.
House Rules. In our house, we allow players who own both utilities, to build substations on these spots. up to a total of four on each space, before a the owner can build a corporate office. For each substation, other players who land on one of the utility spaces, they pay the standard charge as stated in the original game rules, plus ten percent for each substation built. If the owner has built a corporate office on the space, then other players that land on the space, pay the owner twenty times the number rolled on the dice.
